
Wildcats Begin Final Road Swing

ABILENE - With two weeks left in the season the Wildcats will be on the road for the final time this season. They will travel to East Central University on Thursday and face Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday.
After winning both series last weekend the Wildcats find themselves still one game back of West Texas A&M and a two game lead in second place in the Lone Star Conference. More importantly ACU is sitting at No. 7 in the South Central Region where the top eight teams earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Dominated by the MIAA Central Missouri continues to hold the top spot in the region followed by West Texas A&M. The No. 3 spot is occupied by Emporia State, with Washburn at No. 4, Truman at No. 5, and Nebraska-Omaha at No. 6. Pittsburg State holds the No. 8 spot with Missouri Southern at No. 9, and Southeastern Oklahoma State at No. 10.
The Wildcats have been solid at the net defensively. The Wildcats as a team are first in the nation at 2.60 blocks per set. They are led by junior Shawna Hines who has led the nation most of the season with 1.60 blocks per set.
ACU is currently ranking first or second in five of the Lone Star Conference's statistical categories. The Wildcats are first in blocks (2.57) and opponents hitting percentage (.120) while ranking second in hitting percentage, (.218) assists, (12.45) and kills (13.42).
East Central is coming off a win at Eastern New Mexico and a three set loss to WTAMU on Saturday. ECU currently sits in a four way tie for 8th the final spot to qualify for the LSC Post-Season Tournament.
Saturday's road match with Southeastern Oklahoma will be equally as important in holding their spot in the South Central Region. Southeastern is No. 10 in the Region three spots behind ACU. The Savage Storm is also coming off a loss to West Texas A&M and a win over Eastern New Mexico. Last Thursday Southeastern became the first LSC team to win a set against the Lady Buffs, but fell 3-1.
The Lone Star Conference Tournament will be held November 12-14 at the site of the regular season champion.
