Coppinger Claims ACU's Third Straight UAC Weekly Award

Abilene Christian women's soccer has now earned a third consecutive United Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week award as Audrey Coppinger took the crown for her performance on Sunday at UIW, the conference announced.
"Coppy keeps getting better each game with our team and it's great for her to be honored with our third defensive player of the week award," ACU head coach Stephen Salas said. "She has a high ceiling and consistently makes the most of her opportunities on the field, earning her first full 90 minutes this weekend."
Coppinger, a freshman from Kansas City, Mo., was part of a Wildcat backline which held the Cardinals scoreless on a brutally hot turf in San Antonio. She joins teammates Gracie Kelly (Aug. 31) and Baylie Simon (Sept. 8) as previous UAC Defensive Player of the Week winners. Bella Medrano was named UAC Goalkeeper of the Week on Aug. 31.
"[Coppinger's] ability to be a dual threat in the attack with corners and set pieces makes her even more of an asset to our team," said Salas. "She scored off a corner against East Texas A&M and was threatening this past weekend. Bringing stability and cohesion to the backline has shown in our team earning our fourth shutout of the season. This award is a testament to her individual growth and Coppy leading by example. We are going to keep improving each game going into conference play."
