SAN ANTONIO – The Wildcat soccer team will return to action on Sunday afternoon in San Antonio against the Cardinals from the University of the Incarnate Word.
Coming off a 10-day break following a 2-0 loss at Tulsa on Sept. 3, the Wildcats will look to return to the win column against the Cardinals, who have started the season 3-4-1. UIW most recently faced off against UT San Antonio, a game the Cardinals lost 3-1.
The last time the Wildcats played the Cardinals was in a spring game on April 13, 2021. In addition to the 3-0 victory in that game, ACU has won nine of the last 10 match ups between the two teams, holding a 9-0-1 record dating back to 2012.
Baylie Simon was named the UAC's defensive player of the week after her performance at Tulsa, in which she played all 90 minutes. She joins Bella Medrano and Gracie Kelly on the Wildcats' list of conference weekly honors.
The match in San Antonio will be the last nonconference road game for the Wildcats. The team will then play at home against Texas Southern for Senior Day on Sept. 20 before beginning the conference schedule on Sept. 24 at Little Rock.
Sunday's game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium in San Antonio, and it will stream on ESPN+.
