Box Score AUSTIN, Texas — The ACU softball team ended its three-day stay in Austin a few hours early as its second scheduled game on Saturday was scrapped due to forecasted thunderstorms after the Wildcats lost to Ohio State in the morning, 15-7.
ACU tallied 11 hits, including two home runs, but could not overcome Ohio State's offensive surge.
Trailing 6-0, the Wildcats got on the board when
Jadyn Dawson launched her second home run of hte season to left field, scoring
Emerson Meggers and
Taylor Christensen.
Emalee Romero later hit a solo shot in the fourth.Â
With two runners on in the fifth,
Ari Maxwell singled through the left side which allowed Meggers to score. The next batter --
Audrey Lacina -- battled through an eight-pitch at-bat and drove in Dawon and Maxwell on a 2 RBI single up the middle.
The Buckeyes put the game out of reach with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
ACU used three pitchers in the game as
Ella Beeman got the start in the circle. However, the junior lasted only 1 2/3 innings as she gave up six earned runs.
Makayla Valle came in and slightly settled the momentum, only faced eight batters before being replaced
Leah Meyer for the final 1 2/3 innings.
UP NEXT
ACU won't have another game until Friday, Feb. 20 when the Wildcats take on New Mexico at Poly Wells Field.
First pitch of Friday's doubleheader is at 1 p.m. A single-game on Saturday commences at 12 p.m.
