Abilene Christian sophomore Bella Medrano was named the United Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
It is Medrano's second weekly UAC award this season and the seventh overall for the Wildcats.
Medrano helped ACU continue its unbeaten streak, which now stands at nine games in a row, with a 4-0 shutout of West Georgia and a 1-1 draw in a battle of the two top teams in the conference with Eastern Kentucky.
ACU (7-2-6, 4-0-3) remains in first place in the Red Division of the UAC with 15 total points in conference matches.
"Bella did great in both games with her shot stopping ability and command of the area that's led to a strong backline and defense," ACU head coach Stephen Salas said. "The small amount of goals scored against her this season have mostly been special individual strikes that would be tough for any goalkeeper to save."
Medrano is the UAC leader in goals against average (0.678), save percentage (0.904), saves per game (6.27), shutouts (5) and total saves (94). Her save percentage and total saves figures each rank 4th in the entire country while she is 11th in saves per game.
"She continues to refine her craft and is an ultimate competitor who wants every game to be a clean sheet. That drive is reflected in the great season she is having this year leading many national categories. Bella also knows there's still so much to play for and we're excited to watch her continue to grow. Way to go, Bella!"
ACU returns to the pitch in Conway, Ark. against Central Arkansas on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Wildcats finish the regular season with a pair of home matches: Oct. 29 vs. Tarleton State, and Nov. 1 vs. Little Rock.
