NORMAN, Okla. — The ACU men's tennis team may have lost to national powerhouse Oklahoma 6-1 on Sunday, but the Wildcats' one victory was a big one.
Luis Jose Nakamine, a sophomore transfer from Baylor, earned a win over the NCAA's 57th ranked singles player, Oscar Lacides, at the No. 1 line. It is the highest ranked win by an ACU player during a spring season since Josh Sheehy defeated
the No. 53 singles player from UC Davis on Jan. 30, 2016.
Nakamine took a lead with a 6-4 win in set one before Lacides, who was named a second team All-SEC player in 2025, rallied to claim the second set, 6-2.Â
Tied 1-1, the match went to a 10-point tiebreaker with Nakamine pulling off a 10-7 victory over the Sooner.
Dennis Dutine, at No. 3 singles, put up a strong fight against Orel Kimhi. Dutine pushed the first set to a tiebreaker at 7-6, and then dropped the second set, 7-5.
ACU has faced three ranked opponents on the road to begin the 2026 spring season: No. 2 Texas, No. 3 TCU, and No. 21 Oklahoma.
