
Men’s Tennis Takes Commanding Win Over Bluejays

WACO — Abilene Christian University (8-6) defeated Creighton University (11-9) with a commanding 6-1 victory on Saturday at Baylor's Hurd Tennis Center. The Wildcats secured the doubles point and won five out of six singles matches to clinch the win.
ACU won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Merse Deli / Ethan Scribner posted a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Jorge Aza / Dennis Dutiné claimed a 6-3 result at No. 3 doubles. The match at No. 2 doubles for Luis Jose Nakamine / Tomas Quesada was left unfinished at 4-4.
In singles, the Cats extended their lead with a series of wins. Nakamine defeated his opponent in a close match 7-6, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. Quesada followed with a tight 7-6(4), 7-6(2) victory at No. 2 singles. Deli clinched the match for ACU when he added another point with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
Aza overcame his opponent at No. 5 singles 6-3, 7-6. Despite the clinch, Dutiné was bested at No. 4 singles, dropping a three-set 7-5, 5-7, 0-1 (9-11). Scribner rounded off the day with a comeback victory at No. 6 singles, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, sealing a 6-1 match win for the Wildcats.
UP NEXT
ACU's next match will come on the road against Lamar in Beaumont. The match will start at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 10.
The Cardinals are 12-10 on the season, but will play two conference matches before wrapping up their regular season with the Wildcats.
