
Men’s Tennis Dominates Lamar, Wins Final Regular Season Match

BEAUMONT — Abilene Christian University (9-6) secured a decisive 6-1 victory over Lamar University (12-13) on Friday. The Wildcats claimed the doubles point and won five out of six singles matches to dominate the competition.
ACU secured the doubles point against Lamar with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Merse Deli / Ethan Scribner defeated their opponent 7-6 at No. 1 doubles, while Jorge Aza / Dennis Dutiné triumphed 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
The Cardinals claimed No. 2 doubles as Luis Jose Nakamine / Tomas Quesada fell 6-4, but the doubles point went to the Wildcats.
In singles, the Wildcats extended their lead with a win at No. 1 singles, where Nakamine emerged victorious, 6-7(7), 7-5, 1-0 (10-6). Quesada followed at No. 2 singles, defeating his foe 7-5, 6-3. Lamar's one point came from Dutiné's loss, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8), tightening the overall score.
The Wildcats clinched the match with Deli's win at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 6-1 securing the victory. Aza went on to claim No. 5 singles, 7-5, 7-5, and Scribner completed the day for ACU at No. 6 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2, finalizing the dual score at 6-1.

The next challenge for the Wildcats will be against Queens University on Tuesday, April 14 at 4 p.m. in Fort Myers, Florida.
This match will be the first round for the Wildcats in the ASUN Tournament, and they are participating in their first year as an affiliate member of the conference, this season as the No. 7 seed.
