ABILENE – The ACU soccer team is back home, and despite having Friday's game postponed, will still play on Sunday, Sept. 4 against Louisiana at Elmer Gray Stadium. The Wildcats (2-2-0) look to build their first winning streak of the year when they welcome in the Ragin' Cajuns (1-1-2) of the Sun Belt Conference. The game will kick at 1 p.m. to wrap up the busy home weekend, and it will air on ESPN+.

SHE CAN BE GAMEDAY PRESENTED BY LESLIE HUTCHENS, MD

Sunday's game is She Can Be game day, and it is presented by Leslie Hutchens, MD. She Can Be's mission is to build female leadership in post-conflict countries by equipping and empowering young women with the education, mentorship, and leadership skills needed to change their nations and the world. Since 2011, She Can Be has helped 83 scholars win over $21M in full-ride scholarships from prestigious colleges in the United States.

ACU STORYLINES

  • WEEKEND SPLIT ON THE ROAD – ACU is coming off a weekend split in Louisiana against La Tech and Grambling. The Wildcats fell to the Lady Raiders, 1-0, before dominating Grambling 3-0 last Sunday. Caylen Wright, Brennan Reuland, and Ellen Joss scored goals in the win. ACU is +7 in scoring in its two wins this season.
  • SEASON LEADERS – Sophomore Chayse Thorn leads ACU with two of the team's eight goals this season. She scored both in the first half of the win over UTEP. Natalie Jones, who has one score this year, leads the way with seven shot attempts.
  • WHAT A START – Freshman Lili Ross has two clean sheets to her name in three games played to start her career. The Beaumont, Texas native has allowed just one goal and has tallied 12 saves during her 2-1 record.
  • HISTORY BOOKS – Senior Natalie Jones is currently tied for sixth all-time at ACU in two different categories, including career goals scored with 18 and career assists with 13. She also ranks ninth in program history with 133 career shot attempts. Senior Caylen Wright, who scored her first goal of the year against Grambling, has scored 16 times in her career, the eighth-most ever.

SCOUTING LOUISIANA (1-1-2)

  • The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off a road loss on Thursday at Lamar, falling 4-1 in Beaumont. 
  • Louisiana has only scored five times this year, but two of those came from Hailly Waterhouse, who also leads the team with 13 shot attempts.
  • Libby Harper has been the starter in net all season, allowing seven goals with nine saves.
