‘Cats split to open Tournament of Champions

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The ACU men's tennis team opened TAMUCC's Tournament of Champions on Friday, falling 4-1 to Louisiana before bouncing back with a 4-2 win over the host school.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Daniel Morozov and Savan Chhabra teamed up to win a 7-5 tiebreaker and take the top doubles flight, while Jose Mariga Rastrojo and Mihaly Deli won 7-5 on Court 2 to give the Wildcats the doubles point.
- At the time the Ragin' Cajuns clinched singles, Dario Kmet was in the third set on Court 2 and Morozov had just picked up a 6-4 victory to pull even in the top flight.
- ACU shifted their focus to the Islanders, with the same two doubles tandems again giving the Purple and White an early advantage.
- Morozov made it a 2-0 lead for ACU with a 6-3, 6-0 win on Court 1, but the home team pulled even with back-to-back wins in the third and fourth flights.
- Kmet battled to a 6-4, 7-6 victory on Court 2 to put the 'Cats on the brink, and Oswaldo Cano finished it off with a 6-3, 7-6 win on Court 6.
