Volleyball visits Texas Tech for Labor Day match

ABILENE – Abilene Christian volleyball (1-5) concludes its two-city, four-match, four-day road swing Monday night at Lubbock's United Supermarkets Arena where the Wildcats will take on Texas Tech (4-1) in a match slated to be streamed online by Fox Sports Southwest Plus.
The Wildcats are coming off a tough trip to Boulder, Colo., in which they fell to Wake Forest, Rice and Colorado by scores of 3-1, 3-1, and 3-0. ACU was very competitive in each of the contests and hit .177 for the weekend in addition to out blocking (25.5 - 25.0) and digging the competition (16.64 -16.55).
Sophomore outside hitter Jacey Smith led the attack with 3.82 kills per set (42K) and was tabbed to the Omni Invitational All-Tournament Team, while defensively, sophomore libero Amanda Chapa maintained her Southland Conference lead (5.75) with 6.18 digs per set.
ACU's front-line defense also featured four players who averaged a block per set or better – sophomore Courtney Miller (1.67), junior Lauren Walker (1.12), junior Kendall Bosse (1.00) and freshman Lorin McNeil (1.00). Bosse additionally finished the weekend with 9.27 assists per set (102A), 28 digs and four service aces.
The Red Raiders have had four matches this season cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey, but are coming off a solid showing in Berkeley, Calif., going 2-1 vs. Eastern Washington (W, 3-0), Dartmouth (W, 3-0) and Cal (L, 1-3).
