BEAUMONT – The ACU Wildcats are back on the road Monday night when they take on the Lamar Cardinals in a return game from a contest last Saturday (Jan. 30) that saw the Wildcats dominate from start to finish in a win at ACU's Moody Coliseum.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen on ESPN3.com and can be heard on 98.1 FM or online at acusports.com with The Voice of the Wildcats Grant Boone calling the action.
The Wildcats enter Monday night's game at 10-13 overall and 5-5 in the Southland, a record that equals last year's total win count and is one more conference win than last year's total.
Freshman guard Jaylen Franklin continues to lead the Wildcats in scoring at 15.8 points per game, and he's among league leaders in free throws made (91) and free throws attempted (148). He is sixth overall in scoring in the league and leads all Southland freshmen in scoring and is second among league freshmen in field goal percentage (50.4 percent on 134 of 266 shooting from the floor) behind only Ishmael Lane of Northwestern State (54.4 percent on 86 of 158 shooting). He's third in the league in total steals (45) and fourth in steals per game (2.0), and leads all league freshmen in both categories.
Lamar is led by Nick Garth, who is averaging 14.4 points per game, the only Cardinal averaging in double figures this season. Lamar enters the game at 10-13 overall and 2-9 in league play, although the Cardinals have lost six straight games, all in conference, including an 80-71 loss at ACU on Jan. 30.
