ABILENE - The sixth-ranked Abilene Christian men's and women's tennis teams will encounter a challenging slate of opponents both at home and on the road this weekend.
Action begins noon on Friday at the Eager Tennis Pavilion where the Wildcats will play host to Incarnate Word for a men's/women's twin-bill. The women will then welcome No. 20 Tarleton State for a 4 p.m. dual, however, the men will venture to College Station for a Saturday date with No. 15 Texas A&M.
ACU's women wrap their weekend schedule Sunday with a 12 p.m. match vs. No. 10 Rollins. The Tars are led this year by Lisa Loft, who is ranked 22nd by the ITA despite starting her spring at 0-5.
Incarnate Word's women's team is not ranked, but it's men's team is 28th - the third highest ranked Lone Star Conference team behind ACU and No. 18 Cameron.
Junior Julia Mongin (3-1) remains the Wildcats' highest ranked singles player at No. 3 even though she did not play last weekend due to illness. The All-American is followed in the rankings by teammates Micah Hermsdorf (8-2) at No. 12 and Brittney Reed (8-2) at No. 39.

Mongin is expected to return to competition this weekend, although Hermsdorf played well at No. 1 last week vs. opponents from UT-Martin, Lipscomb, and Eastern Kentucky.
Reed and Hermsdorf also are among ACU's ranked doubles pairings. Reed is ranked 10th with Laura Mongin, and Hermsdorf is 21st with Hannah Kelley. The tandems have a combined 6-3 record.
The ITA's men's rankings chairs decided against compiling singles and doubles rankings due to lack of matches played so far this season. In fact, of the 11 teams ACU's men have faced only four have represented DII schools.

The Wildcats - led by their All-American Hans Hach - improved to 7-4 last weekend after posting a 3-0 homestand vs. New Mexico Military Institute, Hardin-Simmons, and Texas-Permian Basin. ACU blanked the Falcons and Broncos by matching 9-0 scores, and in between, recorded a tougher-than-it-looks 8-1 win over the Cowboys.
Hach remains undefeated at 9-0 in doubles and is tied with Nick Plum for the team's top singles mark at 8-2.
Emily Conrad, competing mostly at No. 4, leads the Wildcats with nine wins, while Felicity Delgado is the last of the ACU unbeatens at 7-0. Reed, Hermsdorf, and Laura Mongin all have eight victories.
The Big Country weather forecast looks promising for Friday's and Sunday's outdoor home matches with temperatures expected to reach the low-to-mid 70s each afternoon.
