AUSTIN – The Wildcat soccer team opens the Austin Regional in their first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament on Friday. ACU will take on Lone Star Conference rival Angelo State in the first round hosted by St. Edward's.
AUSTIN – The Wildcat soccer team opens the Austin Regional in their first ever trip to the NCAA Tournament on Friday. ACU will take on Lone Star Conference rival Angelo State in the first round hosted by St. Edward's.
Head Coach Casey Wilson and the Wildcats enter their first ever trip in NCAA Post-Season play ranked No. 4 in the South Central Region. Host St. Edward's is the No. 1 seed and will play the winner of ACU/Angelo State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
In the other South Central sub-regional hosted by No. 2 Central Missouri will have No. 3 Midwestern State and Truman in the first round match. The winner will advance to play the Jennies in the second round in Warrensburg, Missouri.

The Wildcats swept through the Lone Star Conference Tournament taking home the Conference Championship for the first time in school history. The Wildcats knocked off Angelo State in the Quarterfinals, 2-0 before eliminating regular season champion Midwestern State, 2-0 also. Freshman Andrea Carpenter was named tournament MVP as Ashley Holton, Julie Coppedge, Brie Buschman, and Lexi Stirling were all named to the all-Tournament team as well.

Freshman Andrea Carpenter recorded her second career hat trick in the season finale win over Texas Women's. Carpenter's first came in a 4-2 win over Easter New Mexico and she repeated the feat in a 3-2 win over the Pioneers. However, Ashley Holton netted the first hat trick for the Wildcats and third ever by an ACU player in a 4-0 win at East Central on Oct. 1.

Carpenter is tops with 39 total points while Holton recorded 28 during the regular season.

The Wildcats picked up seven honors including four first teamers Lexi Stirling, Ashley Holton, and Julie Coppedge. Brie Buschman earned second team honors while Elliott London, Kendall Cooper and Courtney Wilson were named honorable mention.

The league champion earns a bid to the NCAA Tournament as does the top 6 teams in the final regional rankings to be released Monday Nov. 8 after the LSC Tournament. Also for the first time this year, the Wildcats have cracked the NSCAA Top 25 entering at No. 23 for the first time in program history.
