ABILENE – The 20th-ranked ACU volleyball team will host East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma in Lone Star Conference action over the weekend. Thursday nights' match with the Tigers will be “Dig Pink” night in support of breast cancer awareness month.

After a comeback win over Midwestern State on Thursday the Wildcats cruised to a 3-0 victory over Cameron. Setter IJ Moronu recorded her first triple-double in the win against MSU. ACU also picked up a non-conference win at UTPB on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats will travel south for the first time in league play to take on Incarnate Word the newest member of the Lone Star Conference on Saturday. ACU will play Texas A&M-Kingsville on Thursday before a possible match up with West Texas A&M the following week for league honors.

Thursday night is the Wildcats “Dig Pink” night where they will honor breast cancer awareness month. Thousands of high schools and colleges around the country host “Dig Pink” nights across the country with the Side-Out Foundation to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research. T-Shirts will be available as proceeds and donations collected at the match will benefit the Side-Out Foundation, a national 501(c)(3) located in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area.

After adding three more wins last week ACU is now 25-1 over the last three seasonsand extended their home winning streak to 23 games inside Moody Coliseum. ACU will return home to put the streak back on the line this weekend vs. East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma.

Senior Shawna Hines recorded her 100th block for the fourth time in her career over the weekend. Hines has 118 blocks on the season and is currently second in NCAA DII averaging 1.51 blocks per set.

ACU remains the only LSC team in the top 25 as West Texas A&M is receiving votes while regular season opponents Truman State and Emporia State return back-to-back in the polls at 11 and 12.

Hines is averaging 1.51 blocks per set and has 118 total blocks on the season. As a team the Wildcats are ranked 7th in the country as a team in blocks with 2.53 per set.

Moronu recorded 51 assists on the offensive side of the net as she tallied 10 blocks and 24 digs helping the Wildcats overcome an 0-2 deficit and stay perfect in league play at Midwestern State.

Hines moved into second place earlier this season and has 548 blocks second behind Linda Evans 676 blocks in 1988-92 season. Also junior libero Kelsie Edwards has 316 digs this season putting her across the 1,000 dig plateau at 1,071. She is also just 187 digs shy cracking the top 10 all-time as well.
