ABILENE – After a week where the Wildcats were handed their first loss of the season as well as sat through an hour lighting delay only to have the contest cancelled will begin a four game home stand at Wildcat Soccer Pitch.
ACU will play host to future Lone Star Conference member Incarnate Word as the Cardinals travel to Abilene for a 5 p.m. start. The Wildcats are 0-1 all time against the Cardinals as they begin play in the LSC South next season. Last year the Cardinals entered the contest ranked #5 in the nation and this year will be similar as they are again in the top 10 entering Friday's match at #6.
Incarnate Word will have leading scorer, Sarah Hernandez who scored the lone goal against the Wildcats last year. While the Wildcats will be looking to get their offense kick started they will be facing a high scoring offense as UIW has out shot their opponents 84-40 and out scored them 16-4. A possible tough task for senior Crissy Lawson who brings her .938 save percentage into the weekend looks to help the Wildcats stay perfect at home.
The Wildcats continue their homestand as the host cross-town Hardin-Simmons on Tuesday. The Cowgirls who are members of Division III American Southwest Conference are the defending champs and are coming off their sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. They also play two home games this weekend before Tuesday's matchup with the Wildcats.
