Stutts will start at middle linebacker for the second straight season. Has already been named first team pre-season all-America by Lindy's magazine.
2006 (Junior): Stutts led the Wildcats in tackles (94) and was sixth in the Lone Star Conference in tackles per game (8.5) on his way to earning second team all-LSC South Division honors. He finished the year with 94 tackles (45 solo) with 8.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, one recovered fumble, two quarterback hurries and three pass breakups. His best game of the season came on Sept. 30 when he led an ACU defense that shut down one of the league's best running games in Eastern New Mexico. Stutts finished with 13 tackles (five solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one quarterback hurry. ACU held the LSC's leading rusher in ENMU quarterback Michael Benton to minus-4 yards rushing on 14 carries, 159 yards below his per-game average entering the game. Stutts also had 13 tackles (11 solo), one tackle for loss and one pass breakup in ACU's 30-27 overtime playoff loss at West Texas A&M. He had 11 tackles (six solo) in ACU's regular-season finale against Midwestern State. Stutts is a social studies for teachers major who was an academic all-LSC South Division selection in 2006.
2005 (Sophomore): Stutts finished second on the club in tackles with 87 on his way to honorable mention all-Lone Star Conference South Division honors. Had three double-digit tackle totals during the season with a high of 14 in ACU's 33-30 loss to Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 24. He had 11 tackles in the season-opening loss to Central Oklahoma and had 10 more in ACU's comeback win over Northeastern State on Sept. 10. He also added 2.5 sacks during the season, including one in ACU's Oct. 22 road win over nationally ranked Tarleton State. In that game, Stutts added six tackles, one interception and one pass breakup in the win over the Texans.
2004 (Freshman): Stutts finished the season with 39 tackles (20 solo) and had one sack and one interception while playing in eight games and starting the last two games of the season. He saved his best for last, recording nine tackles (three solo) and one interception in ACU's 17-10 road upset of then-No. 2 Texas A&M-Kingsville. He followed that with 10 tackles (six solo) and one sack in ACU's season-ending loss to Midwestern State. Earlier in the season in ACU's 31-14 road win over then-No. 7 Tarleton State, Stutts had a solo stop on a key goal-line stand by the Wildcats early in the second half.
High school: Three-year letterman who played on the Skeeters' 15-0 Class 5A Division I state championship team in 2001. Led team with 83 tackles as a senior, giving him 180 for his career. Stutts was selected to play in East-West Coca-Cola All-Star Game. Three-time first team all-district selection who captured the Defensive Lineman of the Year award as a senior.
