New Wildcat Dillon Williams Named Preseason All-America

ACU defensive back Dillon Williams has been named to the Preseason All-America 2nd Team by Sports Illustrated / FCS Football Central.
Williams transferred to ACU following four seasons at fellow United Athletic Conference member Central Arkansas. From 2022-25, Williams played in 37 games and totaled 176 career tackles for the Bears. He led Central Arkansas with 83 tackles in 2025, including a career-high 15 in the regular season finale against ACU.
Williams was rated as the No. 1 transfer safety by FCS Football Central earlier this month. At ACU, he will be coached by his brother D.J. Williams, who is entering his second season as the Wildcats' secondary coach.
"We've competed against him the last three years, and he brings experience and a confidence we need in the back end of our defense," said head coach Keith Patterson of Williams on National Signing Day in February.

Dillon Williams is the second ACU player to land on a preseason all-America team this summer. Right tackle Luke Roaten was named to the Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-America 2nd Team on July 13.
ACU had eight players listed to the Preseason All-UAC Team as voted on by the conference's head coaches. The Wildcats were also picked first in the preseason poll.
Fall camp practices begin Wednesday and the season's first two games on the road -- Aug. 29 at Lamar, and Sept. 5 at Texas Tech. The first home game is Sept. 12 against Stephen F. Austin.
