Honea Picks Up Fifth Top-Five Placement of Season at “Mo” Morial Invitational

BRYAN, Texas - Ryann Honea tied for fifth place at 4-over 220 to close out the "Mo" Morial Invitational at Traditions Club on Wednesday, logging her fifth top-five placement of the season. It's her fourth consecutive top-10 performance as Abilene Christian women's golf tied for eighth place at 57-over 921 to close out the regular season.
The Wildcats now turn their attention to the Western Athletic Conference Championship on April 20-22. ACU will head to the Metroplex to compete at The Hills Golf Course at Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas. The No. 97 Wildcats have placed runner-up at the event in the program's first two seasons.
Honea landed in the top five at the "Mo" Morial for the second year in a row following last season's fourth-place showing. She was one of five golfers to score below par in the final round at 1-under 71 and rose three spots on the final day of action amid a field featuring 10 top-100 programs.
Host Texas A&M came out on top at 21-over 885, while Louisiana-Monroe's Johanna Sjursen captured the individual crown at 1-over 217.
A Wildcat has placed within the top five at ACU's last four events, with Honea responsible for three of them. The Wildcats tied for fifth in the field on par-5 holes at 6-over and ranked sixth with 146 pars.
No. 112 Honea tied for ninth on par 3s at 1-over and drew for third on par 5s at 3-under. She tied for ninth with 35 pars. Honea collected three birdies on Wednesday and closed with 1-under 35 on the front nine.
Jiyu Han followed in a tie for 39th place at 17-over 233 with an 8-over 80 in the third round. She picked up her first birdie on her second-to-last hole.
Maddi Kamas, Julia Vollmer and Kate Pickrell each improved their standing in the final round. Kamas tied for 50th place at 20-over 236, closing with a 5-over 77. Vollmer drew for 53rd at 22-over 238 following a 6-over 78. Pickrell shot 4-over 76 on Wednesday to land in 74th at 29-over 245.
