ACU Prepares for Fourth Trip to Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas — Abilene Christian women's golf makes the familiar trip through West Texas to compete in the Red Raider Invitational at The Rawls Course on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Wildcats will make their fourth appearance at Texas Tech's tournament, an event they've competed in each season as a program.
ACU gets started with two rounds on Monday, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The third and final round is set to begin Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
The Wildcats will travel to the par-72, 6,762-yard course with a lineup of Alana Kutt, Kate Pickrell, Kaylee Yuan, Jiyu Han and Julia Vollmer. Hoi Ki Lau will make her Wildcat debut while competing as an individual. The Florida International transfer was the 2024 NAIA national champion and NAIA PING WGCA Player of the Year at Keiser University.
ACU joins a 12-team field headed by host Texas Tech, while BYU and New Mexico are the only competitors not from within the Lone Star State. Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UT Arlington and UTEP round out the distinctly Texan mix.
Han is making her fourth appearance at the Red Raider Invitational, highlighted by a tie for 19th place last season. Vollmer and Pickrell are competing in the event for the third year in a row, with Vollmer tying for ninth place both times. ACU tied for third place last season and placed fourth in 2023.
The Wildcats are coming off a tie for 15th place at the season-opening Boilermaker Classic from Aug. 31 to Sept. 1. Yuan, a freshman making her collegiate debut, paced ACU in a tie for 36th place at 11-over 227 with eight birdies. She scored 2-under 70 in her first round at the college level.
Vollmer tied for 58th in West Lafayette, Ind., and Kutt drew for 62nd. Pickrell landed in a tie for 78th with Han tying for 82nd.
