JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Abilene Christian freshman Kaylee Yuan picked up United Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week honors, the UAC announced Thursday. Yuan was the Wildcats' top performer for the second time this season at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate, tying for 19th place at 1-over 214.
Yuan matched the program's lowest 54-hole score by a freshman at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. She rose 16 spots in the final round, scoring a career-best 3-under 68 to fuel ACU's jump into seventh place. Yuan scored above par on just one hole on Tuesday following back-to-back rounds at 2-over 73.Â
The Joshua, Texas native is the first freshman to be named the conference's Women's Golfer of the Week since the 2024-25 season. Yuan continued her strong start to her freshman campaign, ranking within the top 40 of each of her three tournaments. She ranked inside the top 10 with 37 pars and totaled eight birdies while playing consistent golf throughout the week.
Yuan beat out golfers from the likes of Tennessee, Baylor, South Florida, East Carolina and High Point.
The Wildcats return to action at the inaugural Abilene Christian Intercollegiate on Oct. 19-21, broadcast live on the Golf Channel from Halbert National in Granbury, Texas.
