The Wildcats look to even the series with the Hoosiers at 3 p.m. (CT) Saturday. The start time was rescheduled due to expected inclement weather. Brett Lanman is slated to start on the bump for ACU.
Cardenas tallied a pair of hits to lead ACU and record his 13th multi-hit game of the season. Gavin Brzozowski and JT Thompson each drove in runs, while Watkins and Brady Ladusau also scored. Nick Arias drew a pair of walks.
Zandt Payne singled in the fourth inning to reach base safely for the 31st game in a row. With a .464 on-base percentage, Payne has reached base safely in all but one game this season.
After falling behind 2-0, Brzozowski cut the deficit in half with an RBI double in the top of the second to score Ladusau. Aidan Coleman sat the Hoosiers down in order in the home half of the inning before Thompson's RBI single in the third plated Watkins to tie things up at 2.
The Wildcats were held in check until Cardenas' solo shot to left field in the top of the sixth.
