Wildcats Travel to Phoenix for PING ASU Invitational

PHOENIX - Coming off a team victory at the West Texas Classic, Abilene Christian women's golf looks to carry its momentum into the PING ASU Invitational at Papago Golf Club from Monday to Wednesday. The tournament begins a run of three events in as many weeks for the Wildcats to close out the regular season.
Teams will play one round each day at the par-72, 6,570-yard course. ACU will travel with a lineup of Ryann Honea, Maddi Kamas, Jiyu Han, Jasmine Do and Kate Pickrell, with Julia Vollmer competing as an individual.
Pickrell will get ACU started at 9:51 a.m. (CT) Monday, with the rest of the Wildcats following in nine-minute increments.
No. 104 ACU joins a loaded 16-team field featuring 10 top-100-ranked programs in No. 2 USC, No. 14 UCLA, No. 19 Northwestern, host No. 23 Arizona State, No. 26 Baylor, No. 36 Kansas, No. 40 Cal State Fullerton, No. 46 Oregon State, No. 68 Northern Arizona and No. 98 Washington.
No. 109 Florida Atlantic, No. 113 Denver, No. 123 New Mexico, No. 141 Hawaii and No. 198 Drake round out the field.
ACU picked up its first victory of the year and its fifth in the past three seasons at the West Texas Classic at Abilene Country Club's North Course on March 2-3. The Wildcats won their home event for the second year in a row for their third top-three showing of the season.
ACU scored 29-over 869 with six golfers landing within the top 20, headlined by the 135th-ranked Honea in fourth place at 4-over 214. It was her third top-five performance of the season while placing in the top 15 in five of six tournaments.
Kamas tied for 10th at 8-over 218, followed by Vollmer, competing as an individual, in 15th place at 9-over 219. Each notched their third top-15 efforts of the year.
Han placed 18th at 11-over 221, and Pickrell, also competing as an individual, landed in 19th at 12-over 222. It marked a season best for both golfers. Do rounded out the lineup in a draw for 44th.
