CONWAY, Ark. — Abilene Christian volleyball looks to end October on a high note with a pair of matches in the Natural State versus Central Arkansas and Little Rock this week. The Wildcats meet the Sugar Bears at the Prince Center at 6 p.m. Thursday before taking on the Trojans at the Jack Stephens Center at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+, with JB Brazeal (play-by-play) and Bobby Swofford (analyst) on the call in Conway. A win at Central Arkansas would be ACU's third in a row, marking its fourth three-match win streak of the season. The Wildcats are aiming for their first Division I win versus the Sugar Bears in their first matchup this season.
ACU met Little Rock in Abilene on Oct. 3 and came away with a 3-1 victory. Five Wildcats collected double-digit kills, led by Aubrey Beaver's 20 and Alyssa Todd's 15. Rachel Koss registered a double-double with 52 assists and 11 digs.
ACU picked up a pair of 3-1 victories at home last week against North Alabama and West Georgia. The Wildcats have won 15 matches this season, their most since 2011. Their 7-3 mark in conference play is their best showing since the 2018 season. ACU is tied for third in the UAC standings alongside North Alabama.
Brennan Ramirez and Todd were recognized by the conference for their efforts last week. Ramirez was named the UAC Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, while first-year phenom Todd earned Freshman of the Week accolades for the second week in a row. ACU has garnered nine conference honors this year.
Ramirez paced the UAC with 50 digs and 6.25 digs per set last week, while Todd led the conference with 38.0 points and ranked third with 33 kills. Ramirez has become one of the country's top floor generals, ranking fifth nationally with 5.21 digs per set and seventh with 427 digs. Koss leads the UAC with 856 assists and 10.44 assists per set, both top-30 marks nationally.
HISTORICALLY HOT START – ACU has opened the 2026 campaign roaring out of the gates with its best start in nearly two decades. The Wildcats are 15-7, their hottest start since 2010 (19-3) and throughout the Division I era (since 2013). The Wildcats have achieved their most wins in a season in the DI era and since 2011. ACU's 7-3 mark in conference play is its best opening since 2018. ACU went 8-3 in September and 6-2 in October and has won 14 of its last 18 matches.
MOODY MAGIC – The Wildcats have played some of their best volleyball at Moody Coliseum this season with an 9-2 record at home. They've collected their most home victories since 2016. ACU has won its last eight matches in Abilene, and a ninth straight victory would mark its longest streak since 2016.
WELCOME TO ABILENE – The Wildcats have received early contributions from outside hitter Alyssa Todd. She has emerged as arguably the top freshman in the conference with 224 kills and a team-best 3.15 kills per set. Todd set ACU's DI single-match freshman kills record with 21 at North Alabama on Sept. 24. Todd became the fastest freshman in ACU's DI era to reach 100 career kills, doing so in just 10 matches. She was named the UAC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 8, Oct. 19 and Oct. 26.
ACING IT – Senior libero Abby Christian has established herself as a force at the service over four seasons in Abilene. She is the Wildcats' DI leader in career aces with 117 across 109 matches. Christian surpassed ACU's DI record of 103 aces, established by Madeline Guffy from 2022-24. Guffy and Christian are the only DI Wildcats to surpass 100 aces. Christian is third in the DI record book with 0.29 aces per set.
WEEKLY HONORS – The Wildcats have been the recipients of nine UAC weekly accolades this season between four student-athletes. Hannah Gonzalez was named the Player of the Week on Sept. 14 and 21, and Brennan Ramirez was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 14, Sept. 28 and Oct. 26. Alyssa Todd has received Freshman of the Week distinction on Sept. 8, Oct. 19 and Oct. 26. Rachel Koss was named the Setter of the Week on Oct. 19.
