Wildcats End Non-Conference Play in Waco

WACO, Texas – Abilene Christian wrapped up its non-conference schedule on Sunday night with a hard-fought 2-0 battle against Baylor at Betty Lou Mays Field.

The Wildcats battled against the undefeated Bears and held firm after conceding two goals in the first half. Baylor converted a penalty kick in the sixth minute and added a second score in the 35th, but ACU's back line and goalkeeping kept the home side off the board for the remainder of the contest.

Goalkeeper Bella Medrano made nine saves in just over 80 minutes of action before Emma Konsmo came on to close out the final minutes and added another stop. Offensively, Amelia Leggett led ACU with three shots, including one on frame, while Peyton Hill also tested the Baylor keeper.

Despite being outshot 30-6, the Wildcats limited the Bears in the second half, allowing only seven attempts after the break. ACU generated two corner kicks and maintained a defensive effort, committing just two fouls on the night.

With the non-conference portion of the schedule complete, the Wildcats will take a week off before heading to Riverside for their first conference match against California Baptist on September 25.
