MESA, Ariz. – The Abilene Christian Wildcats, holding the No. 2 seed, start their journey in the 2025 University Credit Union Western Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament. Their opening game is scheduled against the No. 3 seed Utah Valley Wolverines on Thursday, May 22, at 11:30 a.m. CT (9:30 a.m. MST) at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona.
ACU enters the tournament with momentum, having clinched a share of their first-ever WAC regular-season title, finishing with a 15-9 conference record and an overall 31-21 mark. This achievement secured them a double bye and the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
Utah Valley advanced to this matchup following a commanding 17-7 victory over UT Arlington in eight innings during Wednesday's game. The Wolverines' offense was spearheaded by standout performances from Jayden Smith and CJ Colyer, each contributing four RBIs. Utah Valley now holds a 29-27 overall record.
This game marks a rematch of last year's WAC Tournament quarterfinals, where ACU triumphed over Utah Valley with a decisive 16-7 win.
The winner of Thursday's contest will progress to the double-elimination bracket, playing on Friday at 1:00 p.m. CT (11:00 a.m. MST). The game loser will move to the loser's bracket and play later on Thursday at 9:00 p.m. CT (7:00 p.m. MST). All tournament games are being streamed live on ESPN+.
