Box Score ABILENE — UT-Arlington marched into the Teague Special Events Center on Thursday and knocked off ACU, 5-1, in men's tennis action, snapping the Wildcats' seven-match winning streak.
The Mavericks — now 6-5 overall and 1-0 in the Western Athletic Conference — won two doubles matches to win the doubles point and then won singles matches at 1, 4, 5, and 6 singles to take the match. With the loss, ACU falls to 7-5 overall and 0-1 and has one match left on an eight-match homestand: Saturday at 10 a.m. against Texas A&M-Texarkana at the Teague Center.
ACU's only win in doubles action was a 6-1 win by Ethan Scribner and Alejandro Verdasco over the UTA team of Federico Garbero and Yazid Lahjomri. Merse Deli beat Mattia Ricci, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 3 singles for ACU's only point in the match.
