Cold Shooting Night for ACU Against Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Abilene Christian men's basketball could not find its rhythm during a cold shooting night, losing 63-49 at Texas State on Tuesday.
The Wildcats (3-2) made 31% of their shots from the field, including 5-of-15 from behind the arc.
A near 7:00 scoreless stretch in the first half set the tone as ACU fell behind by as many as 12 points before pulling within two when Yaniel Rivera stole the ball and passed up the floor to Zy Wright for a fast break layup with 2:53 left.
However, the Bobcats (4-2) went on an 8-0 to end the frame and led 32-22 at halftime. Texas State expanded its advantage to 20 points by the midway point of the second half.

- Bradyn Hubbard paced ACU with 13 points. He returned to double-digit scoring after recording nine points in the last game at Stephen F. Austin last Friday, which snapped his 8-game streak of 10+ points.
- Cade Hornecker made his second career start on Tuesday. His first career start was last season, also against Texas State.
- Joseph Scott grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in just under 14:00 of play.
- Yaniel Rivera stuffed the stat sheet with three points, four assists, four steals, two rebounds and one block.
- ACU forced 19 Texas State turnovers, leading to 14 points.
- The Wildcats' 49 point total is their lowest since a 74-45 loss at Utah Valley on Feb. 10, 2024.
