The Wildcats are off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2020-21 season when they won their first five games en route to the school's first NCAA Tournament victory, a 53-52 thriller over Texas.
This year's team has defeated McMurry 92-55, and then Omaha, which appeared in last year's March Madness field, 73-71 last week. The tight win over the Mavericks came down to the final minute where
Bradyn Hubbard scored ACU's last five points to hold on. Hubbard poured in 26 points, which is the most in his time at ACU after starting his college career at National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) member Connors State.
Yaniel Rivera scored 11 points and sank three shots from behind the arc -- both new career-highs.
Southwestern Adventist plays in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA). The Wildcats and Knights played for three consecutive seasons from 2011-2014.
The ACU women's team is also trying to go to 3-0 this season, and faces UT Rio Grande Valley following the men's game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.Â
