Baseball Heads to Corpus for Three-Game Set

ABILENE – Abilene Christian continues its long string of road games with a weekend trip to play at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
ACU plays the Islanders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday before ending the series with a Sunday matinee at 1 p.m. The Friday and Sunday games are scheduled for ESPN+.
The Cats began this nine-game stretch of road games with a 6-4 win at Baylor on Wednesday. The spate of road games continues at TCU on Tuesday, the WAC opening series at Tarleton State the following weekend and at UTSA on March 12.
The 7-3 Wildcats are hitting .309 as a team with Miller Ladusau leading the squad at .400. Garrett Williams is batting .389 and Gino D'Alessio has a .371 average with a team-best three home runs and 15 RBIs. DJ Van Atten has 10 RBIs to go with a .342 average.
Starting pitchers Iain Campa, Brett Lanman and Austin Glaze are a combined 4-1 this season. Campa has a 1.80 earned run average while Lanman and Glaze check in at 2.70. Relievers Parker Matthews, Nick Meyer and Cade McGarrh have yet to be scored on and have combined for 15 strikeouts over seven innings.
The Islanders are 4-7 after snapping a four-game slide with a 2-1 win over UTRGV on Wednesday.
Corpus has a .291 team batting average, led by Isaac Webb and .404. Garrett Gruell is hitting .341 and leads the team with three home runs and 10 RBIs.
The Islanders carry a team earned run average of 7.33. Starter Matthew Watson has 18 strikeouts in 12 innings but hasn't figured in a pitching decision so far. Evans Hendricks is 2-0 with 16 strikeouts over 11.2 innings of work.
