Cats Take Series Win over Penn

ABILENE - Abilene Christian scored nine runs on 14 hits and claimed the series with Penn with a 9-3 win on Sunday.
DJ Van Atten got the scoring started in the first inning with an RBI ground out to bring home Zandt Payne.
After the Quakers tied the game in the second, Eric Martin homered in the second and Caden Matlon produced a sacrifice fly for a 3-1 lead in the fourth.
Penn tied the game with runs in the fifth and sixth but ACU took the lead for good in the seventh with three runs. Holden Rook had an RBI single, Martin was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Rook scored on a wild pitch for a 6-3 lead.
The Cats put up three more runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Van Atten, a sacrifice fly by Rook and an RBI walk by Matlon.
Martin had three hits in the game to pace the 14-hit Wildcat attack. Maddox Miesse, Garrett Williams, Payne and Van Atten had two apiece.
Cade McGarrh pitched 2.2 scoreless innings in relief with five strikeouts to get the win.
NOTE: Miller Ladusau, who had the game off on Sunday, collected his 200th career hit on Saturday. He had six hits in the doubleheader on Saturday.
