
ACU to host McMurry in renewal of cross-town rivalry

ABILENE, Texas — The Wildcats will renew a rivalry for the first time in two seasons at home on Tuesday against cross-town foe, the McMurry Warhawks.
ACU is coming off a 1-1 opening week, including a win against Howard Payne, and most recently, a 59-76 loss to Middle Tennessee, one of the top teams from Conference USA.
The Warhawks will be playing their second game in two days as they head to Moody Coliseum on Tuesday morning. First, they will be officially opening their season Monday night taking on another Abilene opponent that ACU will be taking on later this season, Hardin Simmons.
The game on Tuesday, November 12 will begin at 7 p.m., with the game airing on ESPN+ and 101.7 FM, The Patriot. If fans can't watch the game in person or stream it, fans can follow the game on X, Facebook, Instagram or acusports.com.
ACU Storylines:
REBOUNDING MASTERS: The Wildcats are currently fifth in the NCAA in rebounding margin and sixth in rebounds per game. Currently, ACU averages +25.5 in rebounding and 53.5 rebounds per game.
BETTIOL ROLLING: Junior Leonardo Bettiol picked up right where he left off last season, leading the team averaging 15.0 points per game while averaging 72.2 percent. He also averages 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
KING WILLIAMS: Junior transfer from Oklahoma State Quion Williams is second in the team in scoring with 12.0 points per game while shooting 52.9 percent from the floor. He averages 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
FIRST-YEAR STAR: Freshman guard Dontrez Williams is the third Wildcat to average double-digits. Williams averages 10.0 points per game 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals. He scored a career-high 16 points in his collegiate debut against Howard Payne.
VETERAN FLAME: Senior guard Joseph Venzant, a transfer from Liberty, led the Wildcats in scoring with 10 points against Middle Tennessee on Saturday night. Venzant currently shoots 66.7 percent from the field and averages 4.5 rebounds.

Scouting the Warhawks

- In an exhibition game against Texas State on Friday, Matt Pena led the way for the Warhawks with 15 points while adding three rebounds.
- Josh Alcocer was the second Warhawk to score in double-digits, scoring 10 points in the exhibition against the Bobcats.
