Tatrow's homers twice in rubber match loss at CBU

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Grayson Tatrow hit a pair of home runs, Miller Ladusau hit a two-run shot, but it was not enough as the ACU baseball team dropped the rubber match at California Baptist on Sunday, 10-5. It was all Lancers (23-21, 12-9 WAC) most of the day, despite the Wildcats (26-16, 11-10 WAC) jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. CBU built up as much as a 10-1 lead, and despite scoring the final four runs of the game including three in the ninth, it was not enough to capture the series. California Baptist jumps in front of ACU in the WAC standings and holds the tie-breaker down the road over ACU. The Wildcats will now return to Abilene for a Tuesday night date with Baylor coming up.

How It Happened
- Tatrow sent a two-out solo shot over the wall in center in the top of the first inning to get the scoring started, but that was the only lead ACU would have.
- CBU answered with a solo homer and a run-scoring single in the bottom of the first to claim a 2-1 lead after an inning.
- The Lancers added a run in the second, five in the fourth, and two in the fifth to blow the game open with a 10-1 lead.
- Ladusau doubled in a run in the top of the seventh to get it to 10-2, then Tatrow and Ladusau each homered in the ninth to make it a respectable 10-5 final score.

Stat Pack
- Tatrow's pair of homers were his 14th and 15th of the season. The senior finished 2-5 on Sunday.
- Ladusau and Miesse also each had two hits, with both of Ladusau's being extra base hits. The veteran finished with three RBI.
- Austin Glaze went just 1.2 innings in the loss (2-1), allowing three runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
- Blake Anderson, Max Huffling, Luke Krkovski, and Adam Byrd all saw time out of the bullpen on Sunday as well.

Beyond the Box Score
- Tatrow hit .538 for the weekend with three homers and five runs driven in. He slugged 1.308 in three games in California.
- Tatrow is now up to 42 home runs for his career, widening his margin at the top of ACU's all-time leaderboard. 22 of his 42 have been solo homers in nearly three seasons.
- ACU has hit 48 home runs this season and 29 have been with no runners on base.

On Deck
- ACU returns home for the first of four in a row and eight of the next nine at Crutcher Scott Field on Tuesday, May 2 when the Baylor Bears come to town for the rematch of ACU's win in Waco on March 28. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. on ESPN+.
