Soccer to Face Tough Tasks at Home

ABILENE – Abilene Christian continues the Western Athletic Conference schedule this week with home contests on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Seattle and Sunday at 11 a.m. against Utah Valley.

The Wildcats are 7-4-1 this season and 2-1 in the WAC.

Thursday's contest is the Cats' Pink Game and Sunday is Kid's Day.

ACU Storylines

NO SHOT: Abilene Christian's defense has been phenomenal this season. ACU has seven shutouts and while only one of those has come in Western Athletic Conference action, the Cats have allowed only four shots on goal in three league games.

MULTIPLE MULTIPLES: Abilene Christian goal-scorers have had seven multi-goal games. Chayse Thorn has five of those and Taylor Denn and Amelia Leggett have the other two. Thorn has the team's lone hat trick of the season – a three-goal outing against Prairie View A&M.

ZERO MULTIPLES: ACU has gotten assists this season from 10 players but none of those has had more than one assist in a game. Chayse Thorn, Taylor Denn, Peyton Hill, McCarly Holloman and Lox Neves lead the team with two assists apiece.

SCORIN' THORN: Chayse Thorn leads the Wildcats with 12 goals this season. She is the first Wildcat to reach double figures since Christina Arteaga had 12 in 2019. Thorn is only the fifth ACU player to accomplish the feat. Andrea Carpenter did it three times, Arteaga hit double figures twice and Ashley Holton and Krysta Grimm reached that level once each. Thorn is eighth in the NCAA in total goals.

CHICKEN DINNER: Chayse Thorn has five game-winning goals this season. That mark leads the Wildcats and is fourth in the NCAA. Amelia Leggett and Peyton Hill have ACU's two other game-winners.

ALBA MYSELF: ACU has used three starters in goal this season but Savanna Alba has had it all to herself in conference games. In those three games, Alba has a 0.67 goals allowed average and one shutout.
