ABILENE, Texas -- Abilene Christian men's tennis completed its 2021-22 recruiting class Monday with the addition of Latvia native Daniel Morozov.
Morozov's recent accomplishments include achieving a career-high Junior ITF ranking of 208, accumulating eight ATP Doubles Points, and finishing 2019 with a year-end ranking of No. 2 on the Tennis Europe Junior Tour.
Morozov also was the No. 1 ranked player in Latvia for U12, U14, U16 and U18.
"Signing Daniel Morozov is the perfect way to end our recruiting class for next year (2021-22)," said Director of Tennis Juan Nunez. "He's a freshman that can play top line right off the bat just based on the amount of matches and tennis experience he comes with. He's competed at a very high level already and brings a lot of energy and passion for the game. This is the culture we're wanting to build and Daniel's the type of player we're trying to recruit, he'll fit right in with some of our veterans like Riley Tran and Savan Chhabra, as well as all our newcomers. I'm really excited for Daniel and the Morozov family to join ACU and the ACU tennis family."
Morozov joins a Wildcats' roster that's expected to lose only one player to graduation (senior Joaquin Delgado). They will return senior Riley Tran, juniors Oswaldo Cano and Savan Chhabra, plus sophomores Mihaly Deli, Ryan Flanagan, and Jose Maria Rastrojo. The program also has signed in the past year Dario Kmet, Tyler Stewart, Cesar Barranquero and Benjamin McDonald, giving the Wildcats an almost completely different look than this previous season.
