Softball closes out weekend in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas—The Wildcats played two games in Lubbock on Sunday afternoon to cap their weekend at the Texas Tech Invite. ACU faced Kansas City and Texas Tech once again, falling 4-3 and 7-2, respectively.

Game 1
The Wildcats were able to get on the board early as Val Rudd launched a solo shot to left in her first at-bat of the day. The Roos answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning and would go on to score four unanswered runs. Avery Miloch got the Wildcats back on the board with a two-run homer in the fourth, but they were unable to get anymore runs across in the game. Riley White and Alivia Sinnott combined to pitch a solid game, but Kansas City came away with the 4-3 win.

Game 2
After a pitcher's duel in their first meeting on Saturday, the Wildcats and the Red Raiders put up nine runs in the second round. ACU committed a couple errors early that allowed Tech to plate two runs in the first inning. The Red Raiders would take a 5-0 lead before Calie Burris got the Wildcats on the board with a two-run shot of her own to center. Tech would plate two more runs on the afternoon to earn the 7-2 win.

Stat pack
  • All of the Wildcats runs on the day were scored via the home run. Rudd notched her second of the year, Miloch added to her season-leading total and now has eight, Burris is up to seven on the year.
  • Sinnott threw a solid three innings in relief against Kansas City. The junior didn't allow a hit and gave up just one walk in the outing.
  • ACU did well getting on base on the day, but they left 12 runners on over the two games.
