Softball opens Southland play at Houston Baptist

ABILENE, Texas – The Wildcats closed out their non-conference weekends in Lubbock on Sunday and will now prepare to being Southland Conference play on Friday. ACU will prepare to face a Houston Baptist team that is 7-1 on the season.

WILDCATS STORYLINES
- ACU continues to to find success with the long ball. The team has hit 23 homeruns on the season with Calie Burris and Avery Miloch leading the way with seven each.
- The Wildcats have struggled to put together a complete game on the season. The team had, arguably, two of their best pitching performances of the year last Saturday but the team had four errors that lead to four runs in one game and only mustered one hit in the other.
- This will be the first time in the Farler era that the team faces HBU. The Wildcats got just one conference series in last season before it was cut short (at McNeese).
- The team went into last weekend with an 8.04 ERA and despite four losses, the pitching staff brought their ERA down to 6.86.
- Shaylee Alani is tied atop the conference with six doubles on the season, Burris and Miloch lead the conference with seven homeruns.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES (7-1)
- Houston Baptist opened the season with five-straight wins, including two non-conference meetings with Nicholls. The team's only loss came on the road at Southern Miss.
- The Huskies are coming off back-to-back wins where they scored at least 11 runs.
- The team has had three games where they have totaled double-digit hits.
- HBU is hitting .330 on the season.
