Wildcats and Aggies square off Tuesday night

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The ACU baseball team waited almost a full calendar year to get on the field, and now will have a quick turnaround when they head to SEC country to take on the Texas A&M Aggies. ACU (2-1) heads into its first of two power-five matchups this season, after finishing up 2-1 in the opening weekend against Tarleton. The Aggies (1-2) are coming off a win on Sunday against Xavier after falling in the opening doubleheader on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY
Texas A&M holds a 6-0 lead in the series, with each game being played at Blue Bell Park in College Station. The teams were scheduled to play last season, but COVID-19 canceled the rest of the season before it could happen. The teams have met once a year since ACU joined NCAA Division I before the 2014 season.

ACU STORYLINES
- HOME SWEEP ON OPENING DAY: ACU picked up a 16-3 win and a 7-2 win on Opening Day at Crutcher Scott Field. Game one ended in seven innings due to a run-rule, and game two was a scheduled nine-inning game. Spencer Chirpich got the victory in the opener, while Genner Cervantes got his first win as a starter for ACU.
- HISTORIC OFFENSE: ACU scored 23 runs on 24 hits Saturday, including the 16 runs in the opener, the most in an opener since 2010 for the program. Six different players recorded multi-hit games in the doubleheader. 11 of the 32 hits over the weekend went for extra bases.
- NEW BATS IN THE LINEUP: Sophomore Grayson Tatrow went a ridiculous eight hits over the weekend with two doubles, a triple and a home run. The newcomer drove in five runs as well to lead the team. Transfer Bryson Hill recorded six hits including a three-run homer. Freshman Bash Randle went 3-for-6 in the eight-hole on Saturday, while getting the start at short stop in both games.
- HUFFLING & PUFFLING: Freshman Max Huffling brought the heat out of the bullpen for head coach Rick McCarty, striking out six batters in 2.2 innings. Huffling did not allow a hit to the eight batters he faced.
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M (1-2)
- The Aggies fell to Xavier in the first two games of the year at home in a doubleheader on Saturday, 10-6 and 2-0, before bouncing back on Sunday with a convincing 15-0 victory.
- Brett Minich and Bryon Sturges each hit .429 for the weekend, and Will Frizzell drove in a team-high three runs.
- Rob Childress is in his 15th season as the head man in College Station.
