Men's basketball prepares to face UNLV

ABILENE – The Wildcats have a quick turnaround after a tough loss to Pepperdine on Saturday night. The team turned around and loaded into a plane Sunday morning heading to Las Vegas for their Monday night showdown with the Runnin' Rebels of UNLV. As part of the Southwestern Showdown, presented by Engage Telehealth, the Wildcats face three road tests beginning with UNLV. ACU has come down to the wire with both of their opponents in the last two games, but have been unable to clinch a game down the stretch. The looming game with UNLV will be another early road test for the new look Wildcats.

SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the first meeting between these two programs.

ACU STORYLINES
- Payten Ricks is averaging 18.3 points per game coming into the game against UNLV.
- ACU has struggled shooting from behind the arc, currently shooting 28.6 percent from deep on the season.
- Kolton Kohl tallied his first career double-double against Pepperdine, with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
- Ricks is tied for 17th in the country for steals per game, averaging 3.33.  
- After coming off of the bench in the first two contests, senior Trey Lenox, earned his first start of the season against Pepperdine.

SCOUTING UNLV
- UNLV is in their first season with head coach T.J. Otzelberger.  
- The team is 1-3 on the season including two losses on the road to Pac-12 schools (Cal and UCLA)
- The Runnin' Rebels have already played two overtime games this season. They fell to Kansas State at home and then on the road at Cal, UNLV lost those games by a combined eight points.
- Three Rebels are averaging double-digit scoring Amauri Hardy (17.5), Donnie Tillman (13), and Elijah Mitrou-Long (12.5)
- Mbacke Diong leads the team in rebounding averaging 10.8 per game for UNLV
