3/15/2015 7:13:00 PM | Baseball
HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana pitcher Kyle Cedotal struck out 14 Wildcats and limited ACU to just two hits Sunday afternoon as the Lions knocked off the Wildcats 11-0 in a run-rule shortened game at PKD at Alumni Field.
The win gives the Lions the series victory as they improve to 15-6 overall and 4-2 in the Southland. ACU, meanwhile, falls to 2-13 and 2-4. The Wildcats will be back in action Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. when it hosts Alabama A&M at Crutcher Scott Field. That game is the first of five the Wildcats will play at home this week as they play Alabama A&M on Tuesday and Wednesday (2 p.m. on Wednesday) before hosting McNeese State in a weekend Southland Conference series beginning Friday at 6 p.m.
The Wildcats couldn't touch Cedotal as they struck out 14 times and didn't draw a walk in the game. ACU didn't have a baserunner until Alex Copeland reached on an error leading off the fifth, and didn't get a base hit until a two-out single in the sixth inning by Aaron Draper. The Wildcats' only other hit was a Tyler Eager single leading off the seventh inning.
Southeastern scored four runs in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and three more in the fifth to go up 11-0. The Wildcats couldn't put a run on the board and dropped the game on the run rule after the top of the seventh inning.
Every player in the Southeastern lineup either had a hit or drove in a run against five ACU pitchers. Starter Thomas Altimont (0-4) was tagged with the loss after giving up five hits and five runs (four earned) in three innings of work.
