Wildcats set for back-to-back home games before Christmas break

ABILENE – The ACU Wildcats will continue their four-game December homestand Tuesday night when they host Bacone College at Moody Coliseum.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. or 30 minutes after the women's game against Texas Wesleyan ends. The game can be heard locally on 98.1 FM or on the internet at www.acusports.com.

Fans coming to Tuesday's doubleheader will be treated to free candy canes and have an opportunity to win DVDs of "A Christmas Carol," "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snow Man."

ACU athletics also will be offering one fan a chance to shoot for tickets to the Dec. 29 Cowboys vs. Eagles game at AT&T Stadium and another to win free golf at Tin Cup Country Club. Fans can register to win by tweeting to @acusports or entering at the marketing table located on the north concourse of Moody Coliseum.

The game is the first of back-to-back home games for the Wildcats, who are 3-8 on the season. ACU – which beat Hillsdale Freewill Baptist, 93-53, on Dec. 3 – has been off for two weeks prior to Tuesday night's game. The Wildcats will then turn around Wednesday and host Open Bible College at 6 p.m. at Moody Coliseum. Those same teams will play again at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, at Moody Coliseum.

The Wildcats continue to be paced by junior guards Harrison Hawkins and LaDarrien Williams. Hawkins is averaging 12.5 points per game, while Williams is averaging 10.4 ppg. Sophomore guard Parker Wentz is averaging 9.0 ppg for the Wildcats and less the team in 3-point field goals made (25), attempted (60) and percentage (.417).

Bacone is 4-7 on the season (2-0 in the NAIA Red River Athletics Conference) and is coming off a 101-88 win over Texas College on Saturday.

The Warriors are led by Geo Brewer (17.2 ppg) and Derrick Thomas (16.2 ppg). Christian Smith – who had 22 points and 15 rebounds off the bench in the win over Texas College – is averaging 14.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per contest for Bacone.
