IOWA CITY, Iowa – The ACU men's basketball team will be back on the road Sunday afternoon when they take on the undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes of the Big 10 Conference at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Tipoff is set for 3:37 p.m. and can be heard locally on KTLT 98.1 FM and viewed online at video.BTN.com (Big Ten Network online).
After last Wednesday's 67-44 loss at Maryland, the Wildcats are 0-3 to start the season for the first time since the 1990-91 campaign when they finished 0-26. The Wildcats, however, led Maryland 28-17 at one point late in the first half and by a 44-43 score as late as 12:25 left in the game. But the Terrapins held ACU?scoreless over the last 14:11 of the game, outscoring the Wildcats 29-0.
During that stretch, ACU?was 0 for 18 from the field (0 for 6 from 3-point range and 0 for 8 inside the paint) and turned the ball over five times. The Wildcats did not go to the free throw line against the Terps, who were 11 of 17 from the stripe.
Sunday's game is a preliminary game for the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament. ACU?will continue play in the Battle 4 Atlantis (Mainland Bracket) on Monday, Nov. 25, at Xavier in Cincinnati, and will then play in Baltimore on Nov. 29-30 against West Alabama (Nov. 29) and either Towson or The Citadel (Nov. 30).
After Sunday's game at Iowa, ACU?will be in Fort Worth on Tuesday to take on the TCU?Horned Frogs. After playing five straight NCAA?Division I?opponents to start the season, the Wildcats will then get two non-Division I?foes in Western New Mexico (NCAA?Division II) and Northern New Mexico (NAIA) on Nov. 22 and 23, respectively, at the Angelo State Classic in San Angelo.
