Wildcats, Savage Storm split

DURANT, Okla. – The No. 23 ACU Wildcats split a Lone Star Conference baseball doubleheader at Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday, winning the first game before losing the second as the Savage Storm won the three-game series at The Ballpark in Durant.
The Wildcats won the opening game of the doubleheader, 12-7, before dropping the second game by the score of 7-4.
The split leaves the Wildcats at 6-4 overall and 5-4 in the LSC, while the Savage Storm are 7-5 and 5-1. ACU will be back in action next weekend with six games in three days. The Wildcats will play return to action Tuesday when they take on St. Mary's in San Antonio.
The Wildcats won the opener thanks to four big innings. ACU scored four runs in the first, three in the third, three in the sixth and two more in the seventh of the seven-inning game. Abe Williams hit his first home run of the season to lead a 12-hit attack.
Aaron Oliver (2 for 5, two RBI), Will Calhoun (2 for 4, one RBI), J.R. Roalnd (2 for 3, one RBI), and Bryce Gerhardt (2 for 4) each collected a pair of hits in the game for ACU.
Zach Sneed got the start, but allowed six hits and six runs in just three innings before giving way to Kris Carlson, who threw three innings of four-hit baseball. Will Calhoun wrapped it up with one inning of relief.
In the nightcap, ACU led 4-2 through 5 1/2 before giving up two runs in the bottom of the sixth and three more in the seventh as the Wildcats absorbed a 7-4 loss. Southeastern won the game despite committing six errors.
Kevin Justice threw three innings of relief, but was tagged with the loss as he falls to 0-1, while Vance Woodruff (1-0) got the win in relief.
