ABILENE – After a sweep of second place Cameron the Wildcats hit the road for a Lone Star Conference series with Southwestern Oklahoma. ACU is just two wins shy of 40 and nine away from a program record 47 wins.

FIRST PITCH
The ACU Wildcats went 4-1 last week, but saw their eight-game winning streak snapped with an 18-3 loss Tuesday at St. Edward's. ... The loss represents just the 17th time in head coach Britt Bonneau's tenure (824 games over 14 seasons) that ACU has lost by 10 or more runs. ... The 15-run loss is tied for the second-worst loss in the Bonneau Era (17-2 loss to Delta State in the 2005 NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament is the other 15-run loss). ... The worst loss of the Bonneau Era was the 23-6 loss at Angelo State last April. ... While the Wildcats have been winning, they've had trouble scoring of late, topping five runs in a game just once in their last six outings. ... In their last six games the Wildcats are averaging just 4.3 runs per game. ... In their last five games the Wildcats -- who were ranked No. 2 in the nation in batting average at .381 entering the Cameron series -- have seen that batting average drop 12 points to .369. ... ACU hit just .275 last week in five games. ... Josh Crockett picked up two wins in relief last week against Cameron to run his record to 6-1. ... ACU junior closer Brad Rutherford picked up three saves last week against Cameron, pitching in four games against the Aggies, allowing three hits and striking out four batters in four innings of work.

When the Wildcats lost on Tuesday it ended the second longest winning streak of the season for ACU. The Wildcats eight-game winning streak was the second to an 11-game winning streak that spanned 3/21-4/3 starting with Eastern New Mexico and ending at the hands of Northeastern State.
AROUND THE HORN
ACU ranks in the top 10 in NCAA DII in eight different categories as a team. The Wildcats dropped from second to #6 in team batting average at .372 while they are currently the second best fielding team in NCAA DII with a .976 fielding percentage. Offensively ACU ranks #7 in runs and #6 in hits proving why they have been one of the most productive teams in the country. Also in the field ACU in #9 in double plays having “rolled-two” 42 times so far this season.
100th WIN
Junior Will Calhoun won his 100th game over the weekend against Cameron. Although not all the games have came at ACU the Howard College transfer is 101-10 in two seasons. Calhoun and the Hawks went 63-1 en route to a NJCAA National Championship. This season with ACU Calhoun and the Wildcats are 38-9 bringing his total to 101 wins in two seasons.
Cameron Aspaas has undeniably been the ace for ACU this season. Aspaas leads the LSC in opponent batting average as opponents are hitting only .235 off the righty. He is also second in the conference posting a 2.93 ERA on the mound.
DIGING THE LONG BALL
ACU has two players with nine homeruns on the season, Travis Latz and Will Calhoun. With their next home run they will be tied on single season homerun list at No. 9. Latz who hit 11 bombs last season is tied for the sixth best in a season with the Wildcats. Both Latz and Calhoun are also third in the LSC with nine homeruns.
UP NEXT
ACU will return home for their final five games of the regular season. The Wildcats will host UT-Permian Basin in a mid-week contest before wrapping up the season in a home series with Tarleton State. ACU will also host the LSC Post-Season tournament May 1-4 at Crutcher Scott Field.
