Michael McDonough enters his first season as the director of pitching development at ACU after spending two years as an assistant coach at Quincey University. 

McDonough's job duties include working with pitching staff, programming individual daily routines and drills, and utilizing analytics for developmental purposes. 

McDonough served as the assistant coach at Quincy University from the 2021-23 seasons. During his tenure, the Hawks appeared in back-to-back super regionals and earned the regular season and conference tournament championships in 2023. The team also broke the program’s strikeout record over two straight years and made it into the top five in the country in strikeout rate  of McDonough’s tenure. 

McDonough gained plenty of experience on the collegiate playing level. McDonough started his playing career as a pitcher at Ohio State from 2016-17. He also made stops at Sinclair Community College from 2017-18, the University of Cincinnati in 2018-19 and finished his career at Mercyhusrt from 2019-21.

The Columbiana, Ohio native earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 2020 from Mercyhurst and a masters of science in education from Quincy in 2023.

Mike McDonough’s family includes his parents, Mike McDonough Sr. and Monica, and his sister, Marisa.
