ACU Baseball Partners With Abilene Teachers FCU to Support Habitat for Humanity Abilene

ABILENE - Abilene Christian baseball's 92 home runs hit during the 2026 season did more than just establish a program record. They also made a tangible difference in the Big Country community through a partnership with Habitat for Humanity Abilene and Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union.
Every Wildcat home run hit at Crutcher Scott Field at Bullock Brothers Ballpark in 2026 turned into a donation to Habitat for Humanity Abilene, totaling a $3,100 investment by Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union in ACU student-athletes and the city.
"At ACU, we love home runs and we love our community," head coach Rick McCarty said. "We are honored to partner with Habitat for Humanity to help serve the people of Abilene. It's great to know that high-level moments in our home games also benefit the people of the Big Country."
Since 2022, ACU baseball has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity Abilene to donate over $18,500 to fund sustainable, affordable housing in the community. Four of the Wildcats' five years with their most home runs have come in the past five seasons.
"Teamwork extends far beyond the baseball diamond," Marcus Dunn, general manager of Abilene Christian Sports Properties, said. "We are incredibly proud to team up with ACU baseball to turn every home run into real, tangible support for Habitat for Humanity. Together, we're not just cheering on great athletes — we're helping build a stronger foundation for Abilene families."
Habitat for Humanity Abilene seeks to provide quality, affordable housing through the construction and renovation of homes. It builds houses through volunteer support, which are sold to families with an affordable mortgage and substantial down payment assistance. Habitat for Humanity Abilene was established in 1990 and has built or rehabbed over 180 homes, supporting more than 200 adults and 400 children.
"Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union understands the power of using sports to strengthen our community," Elizabeth Gray, Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union community development officer, said. "Their home run promotion and donation to Habitat for Humanity is another example of their commitment to making a meaningful difference beyond the game. We are grateful for their support."
