
Five ACU Baseball Student-Athletes Named CSC Academic All-District

ABILENE - Five Abilene Christian baseball student-athletes received Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday morning. Nick Arias, Aidan Coleman, David Jeon, JT Thompson and Evan Whiteaker were each recognized for their excellence on the field and in the classroom.
Eligible student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically and hold at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Position players must have competed in 90% of their team's games or started at least 66% of its matchups. Pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched at least 35.0 innings. In 2024-25, less than 5% of student-athletes were named Academic All-District across all sports and divisions.
It marks the second year in a row that the Wildcats have touted the maximum number of honorees allowed per team. Arias and Jeon also earned Academic All-Western Athletic Conference accolades last season. Nine ACU baseball student athletes graduated this spring.
Arias graduated in May with his Bachelor's degree in criminal justice with a 3.66 GPA. He was named Academic All-District for the second consecutive season. Arias started 50 games this season, making most of his 52 appearances at third base. He built a .296 batting average with a .903 OPS and drove in 42 runs.
The Tucson, Ariz. native also ranked within the team's top four for home runs (7), runs scored (42), hits (55), on-base percentage (.425) and slugging percentage (.478). Arias' 36 walks are tied for ninth-most in a season in ACU's Division I era. He had 20 multi-hit games and 13 multi-run performances.
Coleman engineered a 3.90 GPA while studying marketing. The junior was a reliable starter on the mound in his first season in Abilene, making 15 starts with a 7-3 record and a 5.84 ERA. Coleman's seven wins are tied for the most in ACU's DI history as he struck out 50 batters with a 1.38 WHIP in 77.0 innings.
Jeon graduated in the spring with his Bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a 3.79 GPA. He tied for the third-most pitching appearances on the team with 18 showings out of the bullpen. Jeon was 2-1 and punched out 14 batters in 17.2 frames.
Thompson earned his Bachelor's degree in liberal studies in May with a 3.73 GPA. He paced the Wildcats among eligible players with a .339 batting average across 56 games and 51 starts. Thompson showcased his versatility with appearances in both the middle infield and the outfield. The Abilene product got on base at a .428 clip, collecting 64 hits and 30 RBIs.
Whiteaker walked the stage this spring with his Bachelor's degree in health sciences and a 3.75 GPA. He tied for third on the team with 18 pitching appearances, including six starts. Whiteaker crafted a 4-3 record over 55.1 innings, striking out 46 batters.
