LUBBOCK, Texas - JT Thompson hit his first home run of the season as Abilene Christian baseball dropped a 15-4 ballgame in eight innings to Texas Tech at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park on Tuesday night. The Wildcats closed out an eight-game road trip with their final nonconference tuneup.

ACU kicks off Western Athletic Conference play this weekend versus California Baptist at Crutcher Scott Field at Bullock Brothers Ballpark. The Wildcats and the conference-leading Lancers begin Easter Weekend at 6 p.m. Thursday before a 6 p.m. first pitch on Friday. The series wraps up at 12 p.m. Saturday.

Game times are subject to change due to potential inclement weather.

Thompson belted a 413-foot three-run homer in the sixth inning, marking the second long ball of his career. He extended his hitting streak to 12 games alongside Diego Cardenas, who notched a single in the third inning. His base hit was misplayed, allowing a run to score on the error. With a 1-for-2 day, Zandt Payne has reached base safely in 23 consecutive games.

Nick Arias, Kanon Sundgren and Braden Regala tallied two hits apiece, with Sundgren marking a career high. Regala returned to the starting lineup for the first time since suffering an injury versus Rice on March 6. Arias has reached base safely in 10 straight games.

Chase Batten and Logan Young combined for 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, striking out one each.
