
Wildcats Look to Stay Hot at All-American Intercollegiate in Humble

HUMBLE, Texas - Abilene Christian men's golf aims for its third consecutive top-four placement at the All-American Intercollegiate at Golf Club of Houston on Monday and Tuesday. The Wildcats have notched back-to-back fourth-place finishes and have placed fourth in three of their last four tournaments.
Teams will play two rounds Monday before the third and final round Tuesday. Both days will feature an 8 a.m. shotgun start at the par-72, 7,422-yard Tournament Course.
ACU will travel with a lineup including Thomas Buisson, Preston DeFriend, Tres Hill, Grégoire Hoyeau and Colin Leonard.
The No. 159 Wildcats join a 16-team field featuring hosts No. 61 Houston and No. 49 Rice and fellow in-state programs No. 101 North Texas, No. 115 Texas State, No. 121 Tarleton State, No. 131 UT Rio Grande Valley, No. 144 Sam Houston, No. 150 Lamar, No. 202 Houston Christian and No. 219 UT Arlington. The second-ranked junior college team, Odessa College, is also in the mix
No. 4 Arkansas headlines the field, while individuals from No. 6 LSU will also compete. No. 79 Nebraska, No. 102 Eastern Michigan, No. 181 Louisiana-Monroe round out the competition.
In its last time out, ACU shot 22-under 842 at Lamar's Golden Nugget Invitational at The Country Club at Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, La. on March 2-3. It marked the Wildcats' third-lowest distance to par in a 54 hole-event in the program's Division I era.
Four members of the Wildcats' lineup and five of their six golfers finished below par, led by DeFriend in a tie for 12th place. Four ACU golfers placed within the top 25.
DeFriend recorded his best performance of the season at 7-under 209 thanks to a career-best 4-under 68 in the final round. Leonard also delivered his top placement of the season, landing in 17th at 6-under 210. Hoyeau tied for 19th at 4-under 212, while Buisson logged his seventh top-25 effort of the year. He drew for 25th at 3-under 213.
