Wildcats Earn Several Season-Best Marks in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Abilene Christian track and field team took a limited squad to the Jarvis Scott Invitational at the Sports Performance Center on the Texas Tech campus, and several top marks were brought home from Lubbock. The field at the Jarvis Scott Invitational was huge, with 30 colleges bringing full or partial squads to the meet, including defending American Athletic Conference champion South Florida and partial squads from Wisconsin and Oregon.

Highlights of the weekend include:
  • Arthur Jenkins placed fifth in the men's triple jump with a personal best jump of 5-50-2/15.29m in a field that included the defending NCAA Division I indoor national champion. It was Jenkins' first time to jump over 50 feet – indoor or outdoors – and moves him to No. 2 in the WAC.
  • In a field of 93 runners in the women's 400 meters, Emma Santoro ran a personal best time of 54.12, placing eighth and moving her into the top three in the WAC. Gracee Whiteaker also ran a personal best time of 57.62.
  • Miguel Hall advanced to the semifinals of the 60-meter hurdles, missing the finals by a thousandth of a second, as he ran a season best time of 7.93, only a tenth of a second off his personal best and the second-best time in the WAC headed into the conference meet.
  • Purdue transfer Nickens Lemba ran a season best time of 48.24 in the men's 400, moving into the top five in the WAC. Ryan McMeen also ran a season best of 48.70.
  • Durrell Collins Jr, a transfer from Fort Scott Community College, notched his personal best of 21.39 in the men's 200, placing him in the top five in the WAC.
  • In a field filled with All-Americans, Rhet Punt finished fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 64-3/19.58, his second-best competitive throw of the season. Rylan Smart, coming back from an injury-filled outdoor season in 2025, threw a season best of 55-3.25/16.85 in the event.
  • Freshman Kee'Lani Whitlock ran a season best time of 7.62 in the women's 60, moving her into the top 10 in the WAC. Fellow freshman Morgan Morris ran a season-best 24.82 in the women's 200, putting her in the WAC top 10 in that event.
Coach Miles Smith: "This week we continued to gain momentum going into the WAC meet. We gathered more ACU top-10 all-time performances and improved our standings in the conference in several events, which is what we need going into the championship meet. Emma Santoro was lights out in the 400 meters, and AJ Jenkins triple jumping over 50 for the first time as a freshman is huge. Durrell Collins' 200-meter run was stellar and much needed to keep the momentum going. We still have more big performances ahead of us, and we are excited to get back to work and gear up for the WAC Championship."
